This newly designed transmission uses all new materials and is a Brand New unit. It is designed to bolt directly onto any 1958 and newer Cast Iron, Cushman Eagle. 

Give your 1958 and newer Eagle the gear ratio that it has always needed. Replace the old 2 speed grind box with a newly engineered unit. The Reiss 3 Speed Transmission gives you a new lower 1st gear ratio to get moving quickly. Shift into a much needed 2nd gear that is in the middle of the gear range that makes cruising  through town, climbing over hills, carrying extra weight or putting at the "in between speeds" much more pleasant. Then shift smoothly into 3rd gear for the final 1:1 drive ratio.

Unlike other past attempts to add a middle gear, leaving the 1st gear too tall this unit has a lower first gear ratio and can allow you to change your drive gears to a taller ratio for lower RPM's at faster speeds. Save your engine and produce faster top speeds if needed.

These units utilize a rubber "O" ring seal for the case and neoprene shaft seals for a leak proof design. The high quality, close tolerance gears are special cut,  heat treated and hardened for trouble free long life and smoother shifting. All external fasteners and shift lever are made of Stainless Steel. Full replacement parts are available should anything be required.

These units have the praise of everyone who owns one. Over 2000 trouble free miles have been logged on the test model and many more on customer units.

Ratios are:  1st = 1.823  2nd = 1.409  3rd = 1:1

Still in Research and Design are two more Cushman transmissions:  the Silver Eagle and the 1957 and earlier flange mount transmissions used on step-through models and Eagles.

Jason..............Joe Reiss's transmission came late today and I installed it and can relate to you that it is UNBELIEVABLE!!!  There is a little modification of the shift linkage...........indeed, if you purchased chrome parts you just through away the extra dollars as the bending of the rod pops the chrome/nickel off.  No big deal but I will probably have to have the rod stripped so that I can get it Jet Hot coated.  The transmission mounts in a matter of minutes!!  What took a little extra time was modifying my rear disc brake master cylinder and moving the rear axle forward.  Once again............no big deal.
 
The shifting is flawless and you can shift up and down with no clashing of gears!  The acceleration is unbelievable but what is best is that I can now accelerate UP HILL and continuously be pulling with no slowing at all.  I do not have "Joe's" email address or phone number and so I would appreciate it if you would contact him and tell him what a beautiful product he has produced.  Some how you have to get the word out on this great product.  Please feel free to use my email as a referral source and/or utilize my comments in your advertisements.
