Some NEAT e-mails we received along the way....
Thanks, Jason. Yes, I am enjoying the kit immensely. Every time I go for a
ride
with David Harriman and we are starting them up, he looks over at me and Li'l
Red as she starts on the first kick and says, "You've GOT to fix
that!" Life is
sweet sometimes.

Hi Jason,
I put on the new carb, and put the engine back in the frame, just so I could
start it, started on the 3rd kick, adjusted the Idle screw just a little, and
can't wait to get it on the road, after that I installed the spark kit, you
wouldn't happen to have the torque specs on the head bolts would you?
(24ft lbs.)
Thanks Rod
Jason: I got the (following) problems straightened out on the 1959 Eagle.
You were right it was a cable problem. The carburetor
works great. there is a 10MPH difference in the top
speed and much more power and pick up. I am looking
forward to adding the kit to my 1963 Eagle.
Thanks for your help: George R. Best
Following emails diagnosed fast idle problem on a new installation.
Jason: I received the ultimate kit yesterday. Thanks for the quick
service. Now I need help.
Q1. I installed the carburetor yesterday and
the engine runs great from one half to full throttle. The engine would
run no slower than on half throttle. Assuming that the throttle
valve was not closing completely I removed the mixing chamber top and
pulled the throttle valve out to inspect it. I failed to look
closely at the position of the valve when I removed it and now do not
know how it should be positioned for assembly. The throttle valve
can be inserted in two positions. In one position it will go
further down into the body than in the other position. Now when I
reassemble the throttle valve there is too much slack in the throttle
cable.
Q2. Also I do not know what the neoprene tubing at the bottom of
the float bowel is for or where it should go. Any help you can
offer would be greatly appreciated.
Hello George,
A1. Not too bad of a situation here. It sounds as if the original trouble
was/is caused by the throttle cable being too tight. Either it should be
re-routed
to allow more flexibility or it is in the adjustment on the twist grip on
the handle bars. The throttle allows you some flexibility. Usually you know
it is a cable issue if you can turn the handle bars to one side or the other
and the engine revs up (cable gets tighter and acts as if you are twisting
the throttle) but when the handle bars are in the straight ahead position
it idles down some as compared to the turned position.
The slide assembly that you unscrewed and removed goes back in the carb
only one way- there is a small guide pin in the carb and a groove on the slide
that should match. Also the bottom of the slide has a half moon shape
removed on one side, this should be facing the air cleaner (intake) side of
the carb.
The carbs are always set up near perfect with an adjustment
only needed
usually on the air screw + or - 1/2 turn and sometimes the idle screw may
need moved in or out a turn or less. The biggest problem usually ends up
being the cable itself.
A2. The hose that you are talking about is just a venting overflow. Some just
let it hang down, I like to zip tie it around the frame by using a longer
piece of vacuum tubing. This way if it ever did overflow it would not leak
on my rubber mat or paint but rather go directly to the ground.

Larry,
I just looked at a 26mm very close. They use a different choking
mechanism. A common problem is that the slide does not go all the way
down due to the cable being too tight (short) Does your scooter idle
down very slow and can you adjust it so slow that it dies? (You should be
able to do this) Does it rev
up when you turn the handle bars all the way left or right? If so the
slide cannot go all the way down when you choke it and will not pick up
fuel from the fuel tube. To adjust this you want a little slack in the
throttle this is adjusted at the twist throttle with the adjuster where
the cable goes into the twist grip and on the carb where the cable goes
into the top of the carb.....
Check this and let me know..
Jason
Jason I'm sorry I haven't gotten back with you sooner. First off I
received my order a couple of days after I ordered them. I sure do thank you.
most people would not send it until they received payment. thanks again for
that. I am bad about waiting around until the last minute to get things
together. You were right on the money about the mikuni carb.I guess with all
the people that I got to try to adjust it ,it resulted in the cable being
too short not letting the slide go all of the way down. now it runs like a
champ and starts on the first try nearly every time. THANKS A LOT FOR ALL YOUR
HELP. I will tell my friends about you. I'm sure we will be doing business
again. THANKS AGAIN I don't know what I would've done without you.

Jason,
I got the brake handle and brake line. They fit great, and they look
awesome. I will tell everyone I know with a cushman to chunk there original
handle and line and buy one of yours.
Thanks,
